Simultaneous dosing and curing with DELO-ACTIVIS
With the “Activation on the flow” process technology and DELO-ACTIVIS, DELO has developed an unique technology that combines dispensing and pre-activation by UV light in one step, saving not only time but also production costs. For DELO-ACTIVIS, special adhesives were developed based on epoxy resin. The patented DELO KATIOBOND FA products are provided with so-called “dual initiators”. Their distinctive feature is that they react to different wavelengths so that the adhesive cures more slowly or more quickly. The one-component adhesives are available with different mechanical properties and are highly resistant to media and temperature in the cured state. Activation on the flow is an efficient alternative to heat curing, dual curing and two-component curing.
IBOA-free medical adhesive for glucose monitoring sensors and other wearables
DELO PHOTOBOND MG4047 is designed for wearable medical applications such as glucose monitoring sensors (CGM). With a 230-MPa Young’s modulus and a 200% elongation at tear while maintaining a 9-MPa compression shear strength, DELO PHOTOBOND MG4047 manages to be both a highly flexible and decidedly strong adhesive. Its physical properties enable it to prevent common problems associated with wearable sensors, such as sensor drift, which can occur following potting. The curing properties of this light-curing adhesive are optimized for mass medical wearable production with a required irradiation time of as little as two seconds under a 365–400-nm LED light with an intensity of 1000 mW/cm². One of its main advantages is that it is free of IBOA, reducing the risk of adverse reactions. DELO PHOTOBOND MG4047 also demonstrates its nontoxicity through its biocompatibility, meeting the requirements outlined in the DIN EN ISO 10993-5 cytotoxicity test.
