About us
Electromechanical Assembly Press Technology by PROMESS
PROMESS is your trusted partner in the field of assembly and testing technology. For over four decades, we have been developing high-performance electromechanical assembly presses and testing systems tailored to complex and highly regulated industrial environments – including the demanding world of medical technology.
Our roots lie in the development of patented measurement bearings for tool condition monitoring. Building on this foundation, we introduced our first electromechanical press system with integrated NC control in the late 1980s. Since then, we have continued to push the boundaries of precision and process reliability. Today, our core strength lies in delivering tailor-made technological solutions – from initial process development to pilot testing, integration, and ongoing production support.
PROMESS electromechanical presses are ideally suited for force-distance-monitored assembly and testing tasks where consistency, cleanliness, and traceability are non-negotiable. Whether assembling micro-valves, sensor housings, surgical instruments, or precision components in diagnostics equipment – our systems offer outstanding repeatability and full process control. With forces ranging from 200 N to 500 kN, a wide selection of stroke lengths, and adaptable speeds, our servo presses provide maximum flexibility for both small-scale and high-volume production.
In medical technology, where compliance with strict quality standards is essential, PROMESS presses provide real-time quality monitoring, seamless data logging, and intuitive software interfaces. This enables our customers to meet regulatory requirements efficiently and ensure full process transparency across every cycle. Our robust mechanical design guarantees long-term durability even under continuous load – a critical factor for manufacturers focused on total cost of ownership.
Engineers and planners increasingly choose PROMESS servo presses over pneumatic and hydraulic systems due to their superior energy efficiency, precision, and clean operation – essential features in sterile or cleanroom production environments. Our intelligent press design prevents over-dimensioning and reduces energy consumption, helping our partners to cut operating costs and support sustainability goals.
In addition, PROMESS offers a refurbishment program for pre-used presses. When possible, we rework existing systems and return them to the production cycle as fully functional, state-of-the-art equipment. These refurbished units come with a 12-month warranty and short delivery times – combining sustainability with performance.
With PROMESS, you are not just investing in a machine – you are choosing a reliable, future-ready solution for your assembly and testing processes.

PROMESS – Precision systems for medical‑grade assembly
PROMESS offers a portfolio of servo‑driven assembly systems engineered for the demanding requirements of medical device manufacturing. The UFM PR5 (Precision5) series delivers micrometer‑level precision ideal for applications involving delicate components, with spindle‑driven servomotors, high‑resolution force measurement, and integration flexibility for automated or manual setups.
The UDM 5 torque system extends this precision to rotational joining tasks—ensuring fully programmable, in‑process torque control and comprehensive traceable data capture .
The compact and efficient Workstation UFM‑C‑Compact presents a turnkey solution for medical assembly stations: an all‑in‑one servo press (50 N to 30 kN range), integrated 15" touchscreen IPC, and real‑time force–displacement control to perform complex joining, bending, or clipping operations with full quality documentation (pdf.directindustry.com).
For clean‑room applications, the UFM HD 4 clean‑room press ensures contamination‑controlled assembly with robust electromechanical design compatible with ISO clean‑room standards, while maintaining the high performance, repeatability, and digital force monitoring characteristic of the UFM‑HD family .
Each system integrates seamlessly with PROMESS’s UFM V5 or UFM RX software ecosystem, offering envelope/window monitoring, multi‑range calibration, database-driven traceability, and seamless connectivity via fieldbus (PROFINET, EtherCAT, etc.), making them a solid foundation for efficient, compliant medical device production.
Our solution for micrometer precision
Electromechanical Assembly Press UFM Precision5 - For maximum precision
High accuracy for tasks that require low forces and maximum precision.
Reproducible results in the micrometer range.
Our servopresses UFM Precision5 are designed for tasks that require low forces and maximum precision. We offer customized solutions in the force range from 0.2 to 4 kN. The intelligent control system of the servo presses, combined with precision mechanics and high-resolution sensors, enables reproducible results in the micrometer range. A force-displacement analysis of the pressing process enables 100% monitoring of every part manufactured in real time. The analysis data can be edited numerically and graphically, allowing each process sequence to be monitored individually and conveniently. The assembly presses are available as modules for integration into existing systems or as UFM-C-Compact precision workstations.
Use in medical technology
Our precision units are already being used, among other things, in the quality-controlled crimping of electrode contacts for pacemakers, in the functional testing of syringes, or in the pressing of syringe housings.
Manual Workstation UFM-C-Compact
The compact manual workstation UFM-C-Compact is designed for the assembly of small to medium series, or for testing and inspecting materials for tensile and compressive strength. The customized, turnkey manual workstations is equipped with our electromechanical assembly press UFM Precision5. It features maximum precision and all the advantages of state-of-the-art NC technology. It allows you to move to positions accurately, apply forces precisely, and monitor and evaluate the process in real time. The compact station follows the plug & play principle. You can set up your workstation, connect it, and start operating immediately. All electrical components, including the real-time NC control, are integrated into the press stand, enabling a space-saving design.
Cleanroom Assembly Press UFM Precision HD4
For applications in medical technology that require a controlled and low-particle working environment, as well as low forces and maximum precision, we offer a cleanroom press with certified particle cleanroom class ISO 4 according to DIN EN ISO 14644. The system and its components are easy to clean and all components used are made of FDA-approved materials or have an FDA-approved coating.
Universal Torque Moduel UDM5
Intelligent solution of drive and torque measurement: Our Universal Torque Modules UDM5 feature an integrated solution of drive and precise torque measurement for testing, adjusting and measuring tasks. Within the torque range from 1.5 to 200 Nm, we offer seven different sizes. These units serve to trigger angle positions precisely and to apply load torques in exactly the right position. Process data is recorded and monitored easily on the PC.
