IMSTec GmbH
About us
Automated solutions for precise and sensitive products
IMSTec has been developing fully automated production lines for the medical, pharmaceutical, precision engineering and semiconductor industries for more than 20 years. In addition to feasibility studies, risk analyses, system design and construction, our range of services also includes system support and manufacturing.
To ensure that we can put your plant into operation quickly and safely, our team relies on many years of experience and the strict standards of process qualification, enabling risk-minimized process development.
The certification requirements of the FDA and GMP are the basis of our process development. In close cooperation with our customers, we identify potential weak points in the manufacturing process and compile suitable measures within a pFMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
IMSTec develops and builds production systems of tomorrow in two modern plants with around 150 employees. We have a clean room capacity of 380 m² up to ISO class 6 and our own development and testing laboratories.

High-precision and fully automated stent production
The production of stents requires a high degree of precision and control. Based on nitinol, steel or cobalt chrome, the small implants are used in various areas of the human body.
What all applications have in common is that only a flawless and high-quality product should be used. Automated processes are the necessary step towards sustainable production in order to guarantee consistent quality at high volumes and cost-efficient workflows. With an increased level of automation, companies can also compensate for a lack of skilled workers.
We support our customers at every step along the entire value chain. From the consistent quality of the stent surface to the reliable reproducibility of all product parameters — our teams deal with the respective customer requirements from the pFMEA process onwards.
We have automated and integrated the following processes for our client:
Laser Cutting
Etching
E-Polishing
Inspection via Image Processing
Packaging
Our range of services includes process development and plant engineering. This starts with cost-effective tabletop solutions for smaller order volumes or for support in early clinical phases. The processes themselves are characterized by a high degree of automation. This allows companies to relieve their manual work processes within production and assign qualified workers to new core tasks.
Thanks to the modular design of our systems, individual production modules can be used to increase production efficiency and improve quality-relevant parameters. By connecting the modules, the degree of automation can be increased at any time up to a fully automated system.
Innovative engineering solutions for highest precision
Organizing personnel structures efficiently, successfully meeting growing production requirements and ensuring maximum safety - with these demands in mind, IMSTec has implemented the first fully automated blister packaging system for KNAPP AG in Graz.
IMSTec's solution combines innovative production methods with sensory and optical inspection systems. For the first time, the system processes tablets from their original blister and automatically dispenses them into an individual weekly blister for patients.
The system is combined with an automatic picking machine and the customer's conveyor technology, which allows the degree of automation to be increased even further.
The processing of medicines is subject to the highest standards of safety, hygiene and traceability. Each process step is checked and can be viewed by the system operator. The original blisters are provided with an RFID code and can therefore be traced back to the weekly blister.
In addition to the process development and system engineering, our team of experts prepared and provided the entire technical documentation, including the required validation documents. Contamination and bacterial load tests were carried out in our own laboratories to ensure maximum quality in the final production process.
We purchase consumables from selected suppliers. This enables us to guarantee our customers consistent, high-quality products. We are driving forward our own in-house production of weekly blisters at our second site, which will sustainably optimize the supply chains for our customers.
